Lanzarote exceeded 140,000 vehicles in September 2023

96.8% of them are passenger cars, with Arrecife being the conejera city with the most cars.

Lanzarote has 866 vehicles per 1,000 inhabitants, well above the national average (539). The island's vehicle fleet is now the largest in its history and has exceeded 140,800 vehicles this 2023.

In a population of 162,541 inhabitants, this means that there are almost nine vehicles for every ten residents.

By municipalities, Arrecife, the most populated of the island, is also the one with the largest vehicle fleet. In total, there are 49,619 vehicles of different types registered. Among them are traditional passenger cars (32,993), trucks and vans (11,472), as well as motorcycles (3,541).

Following the capital, the second municipality with the largest vehicle fleet is San Bartolomé, which has 23,904 vehicles. Among them, 17,429 cars, 4,469 trucks and vans, as well as 1,274 motorcycles.

The third island municipality with the most vehicles is Tías, with 22,189. Most of them are passenger cars (16,005), trucks and vans (4,233), and motorcycles (1,446).

Following Tías is Teguise, with 20,529 vehicles; 12,958 passenger cars, 5,189 trucks and vans, as well as 1,446 motorcycles. While in fifth place is Yaiza. The southern municipality has 13,281 vehicles in its vehicle fleet, 9,334 passenger cars and 2,499 trucks and vans.

To conclude, Tinajo and Haría are the municipalities with the fewest vehicles. In the case of Tinajo it reaches 6,312 and in the case of Haría 4,982.

Evolution compared to 2022

Compared to September 2022, Lanzarote has gained 4,253 vehicles. The island's vehicle fleet has not stopped growing in recent months, reaching year-on-year increases of up to 4.1%.
