Lanzarote adds 4,000 residents in the last year and exceeds 165,000 inhabitants

77% of the new residents on the island are foreigners, which means that currently one in three residents is of a nationality different from Spanish

The population of Lanzarote reached 165,422 residents as of July 1, 2024, according to provisional data from the latest Continuous Population Statistics of the National Institute of Statistics (INE).

Twelve months earlier, the island's population was 161,433 residents, which represents a population increase of almost 4,000 people, specifically 3,989.

Residents of Spanish nationality amount to 109,714 people. The majority are men (55,558), while the number of women amounts to 54,132 people.

Residents with foreign nationality currently amount to 55,582 people, while a year ago there were 52,508, which means that the population growth in Lanzarote in the last year is due 77% to the increase in foreign residents.

Among foreign residents, there is a majority of women (26,445), while the number of men amounts to 26,063 people. With these figures, one in three residents in Lanzarote has foreign nationality.
