The Board of Directors of the Port Authority has announced that it will grant three public domain concessions to Global Ports Canary Islands SL, for the management and conditioning of public cruise passenger terminals in the ports of Arrecife, in Naos and Los Mármoles, and in Puerto del Rosario.

Specifically, it has been agreed to grant a state concession to occupy a public port domain area of 759.39 square meters, with facilities including 426 square meters built, located in Muelle de Los Mármoles, Functional Area 4 of the service area of the Port of Arrecife, Lanzarote, destined for a public cruise passenger terminal. The basic project has an execution period of 10 months and a budget of 1,013,113.93 euros.

For his part, the president of the Las Palmas Port Authority, Luis Ibarra, wanted to highlight the value of this strategic development for the ports of Las Palmas, but also for the other cruise enclaves in the Macaronesian area that are part of the winter itineraries (the port authorities of Cape Verde, Madeira, Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Las Palmas, mainly) and that are grouped in the Cruises Atlantic Islands brand.

“The Port Authority has carried out, in the midst of a pandemic, a complex and very necessary file to maintain the leadership of cruise traffic in the Mid-Atlantic, which is a merit of public workers and an example of their professionalism and port dedication,” he says.
