After a decade in which gasoline prices were always lower in Fuerteventura than in Lanzarote, the roles have been reversed and the trend is consolidating. Lanzarote no longer has the highest prices in the province.
Between 2012 and 2021, although a lower price was recorded in the island of Lanzarote in some months, the annual average price of both gasoline 95 and 98 was always lower in the island of Fuerteventura, as can be seen in the figures published in the Lanzarote Data Center.
In 2022 a change of trend has been detected. The average price of gasoline 95 in Lanzarote was lower than in Fuerteventura 9 of the 12 months of the year, while gasoline 98 was cheaper in Lanzarote 10 of the 12 months of the year.
The annual average for 2022 for the price of gasoline 95 in Lanzarote was 1.472 euros per liter, while in Fuerteventura it was 1.495 euros per liter.
In the case of gasoline 98, the liter was at an average of 1.565 euros per liter in Lanzarote, compared to 1.604 euros per liter in the neighboring island.
In 2023 the change of trend continues
In 2023 the trend continues. At the end of January the average price of gasoline 95 was 1.409 euros in Lanzarote and 1.478 in Fuerteventura. As for gasoline 98, the average of the island of Lanzarote is 1.5 euros and in Fuerteventura it marks 1.6 euros on average.
Diesel was also more expensive in Lanzarote than in Fuerteventura for a decade. In this case, the fight for a change of trend is tighter. In 2022, half of the months the diesel was cheaper in one island and another six in the other.
2023 starts with lower prices in Lanzarote also for diesel. In the island of Lanzarote the liter of diesel is at 1.456 euros on average, while in Fuerteventura it marks 1.489 euros.
