The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food Sovereignty of the Government of the Canary Islands resumes the service of issuance and renewal of recreational fishing licenses after the recovery of the computer systems affected by the cyberattack suffered by the public company Gestión del Medio Rural de Canarias (GMR) last September.
As of this Thursday, the procedure will be fully operational on the electronic headquarters of the Canary Islands Executive. Attention in the Canary Islands Offices of Information and Citizen Attention (OCIAC) and in the island Councils will resume as of Monday, November 11.
The area's advisor, Narvay Quintero, highlighted "the effort of the Ministry's technical team to restore this public service in the shortest possible time" and pointed out that "the rapid technical response, together with the provisional measure of extending the validity period of expired licenses, after the cyberattack, have been decisive in minimizing its impact on citizens and recovering this essential procedure for the recreational fishing activity of many users."
It will also be possible to manage it physically in the offices of the General Directorate of Fisheries located on Avenida Alcalde José Ramírez Bethencourt, in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and on Avenida Francisco La Roche, in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. In the latter case, it is advisable to request an appointment through the telephone number of the Information and Telephone Assistance Service, 012.
