The Interinsular Federation of Small and Medium Enterprises of Lanzarote (FELAPYME) has made public the "enormous disappointment and outrage" in the commerce of Arrecife that is affected by the works.

These complaints have reached Felapyme because the works "have caused the closure of some streets and the change of direction in others, causing enormous confusion among potential customers of commercial establishments located on those roads on a date as important for commerce as Black Friday", he highlighted in a statement.

In this line, he highlighted that "all this without any type of foresight or prior information to try to inform the sector."

Likewise, Felapyme has also denounced the closure of important accesses to the city through Calle León y Castillo and Vía Medular due to a sporting event, causing an absolute closure on a main access road to the center and further deepening the problem.

In the end, small businesses will be harmed by a day of commercial boom, despite the large discounts they offer, and they believe that, given the traffic chaos, many customers are choosing to go to large commercial establishments, causing serious economic damage to local commerce.

To conclude, Felapyme has considered that the lack of foresight of the Arrecife City Council is responsible for this situation, and, in particular, the mayor of the city, Yonathan de León, as the highest authority of the Consistory, and for his position as councilor of Public Works.

To conclude, the Island Federation has added that "it is committed to urban commerce, so it is our duty to protect local and proximity commerce and improve the competitiveness of SMEs based in these areas, a commitment that the mayor of Arrecife should also bear in mind."
