Registrations of passenger cars and SUVs registered a drop of 44.6 percent in Las Palmas last October, to stand at 2,113 vehicles sold, according to data from the Directorate General of Traffic (DGT) provided to Faconauto, the federation that brings together the 3,000 official dealers present in Spain. This organization reports in a statement that this drop is higher than the 40 percent decrease recorded in the Spanish market, in which a total of 77,458 vehicles were registered during the past month.

The writing justifies that this negative behavior of vehicle sales in Las Palmas was due to the decrease in sales of SUVs, which registered a decrease of 58 percent, standing at 123 units sold. For their part, passenger car sales fell almost 43.5 percent, with a total of 1,990 vehicles registered in the province in October.

By channels, the decline recorded in sales to rental fleets stands out, accumulating a decrease of 47 percent, with 5,498 vehicles registered until October. In turn, sales to individuals and companies fell by 36.4 percent and 18 percent, respectively, so far this year.

Likewise, the industrial vehicle segment registered a drop in Las Palmas last October, with a total figure of 324 registrations, which represents a decrease of 56 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. Sales of light vehicles up to 3,500 kg. fell 57 percent to stand at 302 units. In turn, heavy vehicle sales fell by 35.3 percent.

This fall in the industrial sector (-56 percent) in Las Palmas "is higher than the average for the Spanish market in which registrations of industrial vehicles suffered a fall of 50 percent, to stand at 13,854 units sold." By sectors, light vehicles up to 3,500 kg. experienced a collapse of 50.7 percent, to 11,186 units. Heavy vehicles, for their part, registered a drop of 47.6 percent with 2,668 units registered in the aforementioned month.

Faconauto is a federation created in 1986, which brings together the associations of official dealers present in Spain. Currently, 3,188 passenger car dealers and 311 industrial vehicle dealers are part of it, on which approximately 3,588 companies in the secondary distribution network depend, which adds up to more than 7,087 automotive SMEs in Spain. These companies generate 160,000 direct jobs and a turnover of 80,000 million euros per year.
