The commitment to overcome the environmental and sustainability challenges facing Lanzarote and La Graciosa remains a responsibility for this company, which operates the integral water cycle on these two islands. For this reason, once again, Canal Gestión Lanzarote has launched a campaign to raise awareness about the need to save water, appealing to everyone's responsibility to respect this resource as much as possible, which is produced and distributed daily on the islands with so much human and economic effort, and which also implies significant environmental damage, given the extreme dependence on non-renewable energies needed to desalinate water, with the harmful emission of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere that this entails.
Therefore, the collaboration of all citizens, institutions, companies, etc. is needed to take care of the water. Because the more water we need, the more we will have to produce and, worst of all, the more pollution we will cause in Lanzarote. But this is not a task that we can do alone.
The awareness advertising campaign is being carried out in island-wide media and also in public spaces such as the entrance and exit of the inter-island terminal at Lanzarote airport and on two intercity public service buses.
The message is easy and seeks to awaken awareness of saving through a design and message of global scope: "The power is in your hand Take care of the water!... You can be a superhero... Become that extraordinary being that Lanzarote and La Graciosa need".
At Canal Gestión Lanzarote we are convinced that "now more than ever, there are gestures that can change the history of Lanzarote, small actions that make us extraordinary beings".
It is about continuing to adopt sustainable habits in our individual relationship with the consumption of the liquid element. Always keep in mind that our actions have consequences. For example, turning off the tap while we soap our hands can save us six liters of water. Using dual flush cisterns saves 50%. Or putting the washing machine on a full load also means saving 30 liters.
