The passenger transport company Uber has announced that this Thursday, June 15, it will begin operating on the island of Tenerife, initially in the municipalities of Guía de Isora, Adeje, Arona and Granadilla de Abona, including the Reina Sofía South Airport.

In a statement, the company indicates that "it does not rule out extending this operation to other municipalities and specifies that the service includes taxi services and the luxury vehicle service "Uber Black", which allows reservations up to 90 days in advance."

It points out that, with this launch, Uber "maintains its collaboration with the taxi sector" and specifies that Tenerife is "the ninth place in Spain to have this service".

The on-demand passenger transport company indicates that, among the conditions offered to taxi drivers, one of them is that "they register to work with their "app"", since they will have "a service commission of 0% until August 31, 2023, 300 euros for each recommendation, and 150 euros upon completing the first 25 trips".

Regarding its expansion on the island, it points out that it "wants to respond to the great growth in mobility demand that Tenerife has been experiencing in recent years".

Felipe Fernández Aramburu, general manager of Spain and Portugal, indicates that his company "continues to bet on the taxi sector and wants to work hand in hand with taxi drivers, the local tourism sector and public administrations to improve mobility on the island".

In addition, the Uber service is already provided in Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Seville, Málaga, Bilbao, Granada, Mallorca. And now it has arrived in Tenerife.
