Armas plans to reduce CO2 emissions by 2% compared to 2020 levels

The shipping company Armas plans to introduce changes in its ships, in its routes and in its operating speed to reduce the carbon dioxide emissions of its fleet by 2% in the period 2021-2025 compared to 2020 levels.

In a statement, Armas details that its environmental improvement plan includes energy efficiency measures, hydrodynamic improvements in ships and the use of a "live work" paint based on state-of-the-art silicone technology to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

For the period 2021-2025, the company will adapt its ships so that they can connect to the electrical grid of the docks while they are docked in those ports that have this service.

It will also progressively replace all the luminaires on its ships with LED technology lights, which will be available in 100% of its fleet in 2025.

These measures complement those that Armas has implemented in the last two years to eliminate plastics from its operations, which allowed it to stop using 1.4 million plastic items on board in 2020 and more than two million in 2021
