Hospiten Lanzarote incorporates a new Ophthalmology service into its portfolio of services with the aim of providing comprehensive care to the island's patients regarding vision at all stages, from prevention to medical and surgical treatment, including the correction of any refractive defect such as myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism or presbyopia.

Ophthalmologist Adolfo Espino, specialized in medical and surgical retina, will be the professional who will lead this new area. He points out that the foundations of the service will be "the personalized treatment of the pathology and the patient", also betting on scientific updating and technological innovation. "Our proposal also includes the dissemination of knowledge acquired through practice and clinical experience", says the Hospiten specialist.

Likewise, cases that require surgical treatment will be treated in the operating room of Hospiten Lanzarote, on an outpatient surgery basis, being discharged on the same day, according to the specialists' assessment.

Comprehensive treatment

Eye problems are highly related to the patient's general health, so this new service aims to provide a comprehensive approach to ophthalmological medicine to address all kinds of pathologies and eye emergencies, and complement the care of patients with systemic diseases such as rheumatic diseases or diabetes, which can also cause eye disorders, and which is especially prevalent in the Canary Islands.

With this new incorporation, Hospiten emphasizes its commitment to improving its portfolio of specialties and providing a service of the highest quality, with better options, to improve the health of its patients on the island of Lanzarote.

With 50 years of experience, Hospiten has twenty private medical-hospital centers in Spain, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Jamaica and Panama, and more than one hundred outpatient medical centers, under the Clinic Assist brand, serving more than 1,700,000 patients from all over the world annually, and with a staff of more than 5,000 people.
