Dr. Eduardo Barroso joins Hospiten Roca as a specialist in Urology. With this new incorporation, the health group reinforces its portfolio of services for comprehensive and complete care, both for male and female health.
Specifically, Dr. Barroso is a member of the European, Spanish and Canarian societies of Urology, and an expert in female and male incontinence and female genital prolapse, which consists of the descent of the pelvic organs due to rupture or weakness of the pelvic floor support. This irregularity can affect the bladder, uterus and rectum, generating a sensation of a lump at the vaginal level.
For its part, urinary incontinence is the involuntary loss of urine, which is a hygienic or social problem that significantly deteriorates the quality of life of those who suffer from it, since it reduces their self-esteem and diminishes their autonomy.
There are two types of urinary incontinence: urge and stress. The first case is the involuntary loss of urine preceded by "urgency". In the case of stress incontinence, as its name indicates, it is associated with a physical effort that causes an increase in abdominal pressure, such as coughing, laughing, running or walking.
To know the type and degree of incontinence, a series of diagnostic tests are performed, among which the urodynamic study stands out, in which Dr. Barroso is an expert. This consists of a diagnostic test that indicates how the entire lower urinary tract works.
During the study, the parameters of abdominal pressure, pressure inside the bladder, electrical activity of the urinary sphincter and urinary flow are recorded.
All this gives very detailed information on the functioning of the lower urinary tract, which allows to offer the most appropriate treatment. Therefore, it is especially important to go to the urologist in order to receive the most appropriate diagnosis and personalized treatment.
Dr. Barroso will consult at Hospiten Roca San Agustín and will carry out his studies and research at the Vecindario medical specialty center.
