Decathlon has opened its first store in Lanzarote this Thursday afternoon, located in the municipality of Arrecife, on Tenderete street in the Argana Baja Industrial Estate.
This new opening of Decathlon in Spain will facilitate access to sport for the citizens of the island, in addition to creating 39 direct and local jobs. The new center has a total area of 3,266 m2, of which 2,812 are entirely dedicated to the exhibition and sale of sports equipment, highlighting the offer in water sports such as surfing, windsurfing and scuba diving.
Decathlon Lanzarote customers will have a wide range of services available, including the Click@&Collect service and the Plus Project, services with which the customer will have available the entire range of products and services of www.decathlon.es, and the possibility of picking them up in the same store or at home. In addition, it is worth mentioning a post-sale technical service for the repair and/or maintenance of sports equipment.
Decathlon Lanzarote will keep its doors open from Monday to Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. The exterior also has 253 free parking spaces, in order to facilitate all sports lovers to visit and purchase equipment.
With this opening, Decathlon already has 6 stores in the Canary Islands (4 large-format stores and 2 urban stores) and 147 stores in Spain (117 Decathlon and 30 Decathlon City).
Opening ceremony
The opening ceremony was supported by local authorities such as Pedro San Ginés, president of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, and Eva de Anta, mayor of Arrecife. On behalf of Decathlon Spain, Alfonso Gutiérrez, Director of Decathlon Central-South Zone, and Seydi Carrazana, Director of Decathlon Lanzarote, participated.
Alfonso Gutiérrez, Director of the Central-South Zone, said that "from the moment I took the rental car until I arrived at the store, everyone told me, finally you are here! and yes, we are finally here!. He also pointed out that the company's intention is to "make sport accessible to the majority, for us it is a pleasure for anyone who wants to play sport to be able to do so."
For her part, the mayoress of the capital of Lanzarote, Eva de Anta, expressed her joy at the opening of the store, "I will be one of the first to come because I really like swimming." Pedro San Ginés, president of the Cabildo, congratulated the society of Lanzarote for "a long-awaited news", and stressed that the practice of sport is one of the banners of Lanzarote.
Finally, Seydi Carrazana, Director of Decathlon on the island, stated in her speech that "the reason for the opening of this store is our passion for sport, a sport that is breathed in every corner of the island, it is on the surface.
