Next November 15th, the South Global Forum will address the Challenges of Tourism in Lanzarote and the Canary Islands, in an event that will be held at the Castillo de San José in Arrecife, at 09:30 hours. Antonio Catalán, president of AC Hoteles by Marriott, will speak at the event, and the president of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, has also confirmed his presence.

Meeting point for sustainable economic development

The South Global Forum, which suspended its activity during the pandemic, offers an ideal space for debate, reflection and collaboration, bringing together experts, political leaders, entrepreneurs, professionals and people involved or interested in the subject, in search of innovative approaches to current economic challenges, with a focus on sustainable development in island territories in a global context.

In the 5th edition of this space for economic reflection, experts will discuss the transformations needed to maintain the competitiveness of the tourist destination in a global market, emphasizing hot topics such as the need to renovate infrastructure and services, adapt to the new demands of tourists and the evolution to less massified and more sustainable tourism models. Emerging trends will be analyzed and the economic perspectives affecting the sector will be discussed, as well as the necessary evolution of tourism in Lanzarote.

A forum of maximum prestige

The forum has become an unmissable event for those who want to be in contact with the knowledge of the markets, the institutional implications and the decision making of the future. Among others, the forum has included great personalities from the economic world of our time such as Michel Camdessus, former managing director of the International Monetary Fund and governor of the Central Bank of France, María Garaña, managing director of Professional Services for the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region at Google or Juan José Toribio, former president of the Spanish Banking Association and professor emeritus of Economics at IESE, among many other speakers.

Attendance to the event is free until full capacity is reached and can be confirmed on the event website.

The event is sponsored by Turismo Lanzarote, the Art, Culture and Tourism Centers of Lanzarote, the Government of the Canary Islands and Cicar, with the collaboration of the Chamber of Commerce of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, also counting as main partner with the media group Lanzarote Media.
