The spokesperson minister, Pilar Alegría, has stated that the Canarian president, Fernando Clavijo, is wrong when he denounces the absence of the State in the migratory crisis and has urged him to convince the PP, his government partner, which is the one that voted against the reform of the Immigration Law.

In the press conference after the Council of Ministers, Alegría, in addition, responded to Clavijo that "this is not about the distribution of powers", but about caring for boys and girls.

The Canarian president insisted this Tuesday that it is the State that has custody and guardianship of unaccompanied minors who arrive on the islands.

"The powers are perfectly defined in the Constitution and in the Statute of Autonomy and Mr. Clavijo knows it perfectly", he said.

In his opinion, all the efforts and all the decisions that the Canarian president is transferring, who has threatened to take the Government to court, "should be used to convince his ally in the Government, the PP", which, he recalled, was the one that voted against the modification of the Immigration Law for the mandatory distribution of migrant minors among the communities.

The minister has stressed that the Government, from the first moment, has worked in the field of solutions, always with a helping hand and, in fact, as she recalled, the proposal to reform the Immigration Law that she registered in Congress "also came sealed with the support of Mr. Clavijo."

It is- she warned- a situation that requires a response "because we are talking about boys and girls who need that attention and who need that care" and she has regretted that in the face of this, from the PP "the only thing we hear are hyperbolic responses absolutely far from the responsibility that is required of a State party."

She has asked the PP for less incendiary speeches, less demagoguery, less confrontation and less insults and more responsibility, vision and solidarity to distribute 6,000 children in a country of more than 45 million citizens.
