Canary Islands breaks another record of Covid infections, with 816 in one day

Canary Islands has broken another record of Covid infections, after adding 816 new positives in the last day. Of these, 436 have been reported in Tenerife, an island that continues to concentrate the highest number of cases followed by Gran Canaria, where 306 new positives have been registered.

As for the rest of the islands, Fuerteventura has added 36 new cases, La Palma 18, Lanzarote 11 and La Gomera nine, with El Hierro being the only island that has not registered new positives. In the last 24 hours, however, there have been no deaths due to Covid in the archipelago. 

The total number of accumulated cases in the islands since the beginning of the pandemic is now 71,430, of which 9,156 are active, after 416 discharges have also been added. There are 62 patients admitted to the ICU and 328 in the hospital ward, while the remaining 8,766 are in home isolation. 

Regarding the active cases by islands, Tenerife has 5,575, Gran Canaria 2,786, Fuerteventura 419, Lanzarote 165, La Palma 157, La Gomera 45 and El Hierro nine. 

The accumulated incidence at seven days in the Canary Islands stands at 209.66 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and at 14 days at 372.71 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. 

Until this Wednesday, 1,747,886 Covid diagnostic tests have been carried out in the Islands, of which 8,805 correspond to the last day.
