A neighbor reports two attempted robberies at his home in Güime and blames it on the fact that the town "has been in the dark for a year"

"In the dark". This is how, according to a neighbor, they live in the town of Güime. Francisco has contacted La Voz to say that they have been practically "a year without public lighting, which does not work." During the November holiday, both Thursday and Friday, they tried to rob his house. "Luckily, they didn't take anything," he says.

Francisco says he has lived in Güime for 16 years. "When we arrived, there was no public lighting. It was two years ago when the lighting was installed, which involved a millionaire expense. Now, every so often the bulbs burn out, which are not repaired or replaced. If one lamppost works in an entire street, that's saying a lot," he complains.

Living "in the dark", this neighbor says he is "afraid". "There are many robberies," he says. Precisely, during the November holiday, both Thursday and Friday they "got into" his house, despite the fact that he has a security alarm.

"On Thursday they broke a window and entered the house. We were not at home. When we entered, the alarm center called us and we notified the Police. They walked all over the house, because the center told us that they had passed through all the sensors we have placed in the house. Luckily, the alarm went off and they didn't take anything," explains this neighbor.

The story was repeated on Friday, November 2. "The alarm went off immediately and they got scared. They ran out and didn't have time for anything. They could have taken anything, but they left in a hurry," says Francisco.

This neighbor attributes these robberies to the fact that the town "is in the dark". He assures that he has filed "several complaints on the Internet, on the website of the San Bartolomé City Council", but "the works are not being done". "Every week they tell me that on Monday the works begin to repair the public lighting, but so far I have not seen anyone in Güime," he insists.

Lighting replacement

In mid-October, the San Bartolomé City Council reported that the current operating system of this public lighting was going to be replaced by "an installation of telegestioned luminous flux stabilizing reducers at the head". In this way, according to the City Council, "the energy saving parameters in this type of installation will be met".

At that time, the City Council had required the companies to correct the deficiencies detected in the lighting. However, it was forced to proceed with the execution of the definitive guarantees to assume the repair of the same. On October 15, the City Council was confident that the new equipment would be awarded "shortly".
