A truly unpleasant weekend for Unión Sur Yaiza. Neither the results of the other teams from the bottom of the table nor the match played at the Municipal de Yaiza against Santa Úrsula, which ended in a one-all draw, left the verdinegros satisfied.
The match against the Santa Ursula team started badly, corresponding to matchday 21 of the Third Division RFEF. The first minutes of the match were of a certain visitor dominance and, as the minutes passed, they began to believe it. In the 12th minute came the first warning with a crossed header that went away after touching the right post defended by Álex Medina. The southern goalkeeper was beginning to despair with his own, determined to complicate their lives in the exit of the ball leaving the forcefulness for future occasions.
A few minutes later, with the Yaiza squad very affected by the position of the sun, a shot came from the front of the area that went over the local crossbar.
Yaiza's first shot on goal did not come until the 17th minute with a shot from Pope that went far from the goal defended by Juanje.
The verdinegros' drowsiness began to disappear at the same time as Roy's sparks came from the right wing. Precisely, a cross from Roy in the 24th minute reached the feet of Joni who was fed up with the ball and made a very deflected shot. But this was another Yaiza. In the 28th minute a foul in the center of the field was taken towards the area and Roy hooked it on the volley to send it to the back of the net. Impossible for Juanje. Yaiza would not have many problems to defend the advantage in the scoreboard of the Southern Municipal until the last minutes of the first part. After several warnings from the visitors, already touching the break, a shot from Javier was rejected by Álex Medina with such bad luck that the ball ended up ready for Víctor alone
he had to push it heading to the bottom of the southern net and thus put the tie on the scoreboard. In one of the last plays of the first half, Yaiza received a foul but came out on the counterattack clearly but the referee hesitated and finally whistled the foul to provoke the majority complaint from the southern stands. In the end, major disappointment for the green parish who saw how just before the break the advantage vanished and the referee's mistake left the locals without a clear chance.
With the second half came the movements on the bench of both Carlos Ramírez and Rubén García. The locals tried with the impulse that Miguel Gómez always brings but something changed in the restart as Yaiza was practically without midfield and barely tested Juanje. Santa Úrsula looked somewhat better and they did have some clear options in front of the green goal.
The score was not going to change. A draw that is not enough although seeing what was seen on the grass of Yaiza is not a small booty. Ibarra's ample victory against Estrella and Gran Tarajal's defeat leaves Yaiza and the majoreros in relegation. Carlos Ramírez's team is one point away from Ibarra and from leaving the dangerous zone of the classification. Precisely UD Ibarra is Yaiza's next rival in a crucial match for both teams' interests. Match that will be played in the Villa Isabel next Saturday, February 25, starting at 17:00 hours.
