UD Lanzarote suffered their first defeat of the season on Saturday morning, falling 3-1 to UD Las Palmas “C”. The match was very long for the rojillos, who managed to take the lead at the start of the second half through Rubo. The yellows turned the score around with a double from Samuel Ramos, one of them from a penalty, and a goal from Pablo González.
Mateo García made two changes to the line-up from last week, leaving full-back Leo and striker Juanito on the bench, and bringing in Brazilians Rodrigo and Alyson to have more depth on the wing. The coach's strategy worked well, dominating the first half.
UD Lanzarote deserved more in the first half, although they were not successful in the final metres. Ruymán had little work to do and solved what he did perfectly. The clearest chance for the rojillos came when Alyson got behind the defence, stood alone inside the area and was unable to beat Javi Cendón in the one-on-one.
The second half started in the best possible way for UD Lanzarote, taking the lead in the first minute of the game. A shot from Miguel Gopar was saved by the UD Las Palmas “C” goalkeeper and Rubo took advantage of the rebound to send the ball into the back of the net.
UD Lanzarote's joy was short-lived, with UD Las Palmas “C” taking just eight minutes to equalise through Samuel Ramos. And six minutes later, a great strike from Pablo González surprised goalkeeper Ruymán and became the second goal for the home side.
Lanzarote began to find the game long and it became even more uphill when Abián Santos was brought down inside the area. Samuel Ramos took the penalty, putting the final score at 3-1 with which the game came to an end.
