Sanse came out very well positioned on the field, always pressing the Lanzarote team, but without luck in the offensive game, where their forwards always encountered the solvency of the local defenders who thwarted their attempts to disturb Iván Gómez time and again.
Thus, most of the chances were for the local team, who took advantage of the spaces left by their rival, and as early as the 10th minute of the match, they could have opened the scoring with a shot from Jaba, which went just wide. Two minutes later, in the 12th minute, came the play that could have changed the game: a block by defender Sarasua on Madrid striker Chumi. A clear penalty that the referee did not award. Already in the 18th minute, the locals again had a good chance, this time in a shot by Maciot, which went slightly high over the crossbar.
The rojillos goals arrive
Sanse dominated the match, but in the 21st minute a counter-attack by UD. Lanzarote ended with a cross to the edge of the area, where Fali, unmarked, beat the Madrid goal. The goal dislodged the visiting team, on whom bad luck struck again, since as soon as they kicked off, a quick play by the locals down the right wing, with a mistake included by the Sanse defense, allowed the ball to reach Gil, who alone, at the far post, put his foot in and scored. The second goal definitively unbalanced Sanse, who from then until the break was giving ground to their rival.
Visiting comeback
The second half began with a Unión Deportiva Lanzarote that seemed to have stayed in the locker room. The locals believed that they had everything resolved and took to the field excessively relaxed. The Madrid team, for their part, knew how to take advantage of this and in the 53rd minute Prieto launched a direct free kick and put the ball into the same corner of Iván Gómez's goal with a shot from midfield that surprised the local goalkeeper.
Nerves then appeared in the locals who, eight minutes later, conceded the second goal.
Things were straightening out for Sanse, but the joy was not going to last long, since in the 64th minute the unfortunate play that decided the match occurred. A cross from Gustavo was attempted to be cleared with his head by Javier Sánchez, with such bad luck that he ended up putting the ball into his own goal, establishing the 3-2, which ultimately proved decisive. Sanse could still have tied the contest again in the 78th minute in a shot by Prieto, the most dangerous of his team, but a great save by the Lanzarote goalkeeper prevented the goal.
Adolfo Pérez satisfied because his team rediscovered victory
The coach of Unión Deportiva Lanzarote, Adolfo Pérez, admitted at the end of the match that winning again means "a lot" for his squad, as it allows them to "straighten the road".
"We couldn't fail at home and much less against a direct rival in the fight for permanence like Sanse. We had a bit of a bad time, since after going 2-0 up we found ourselves with a draw that was a tremendous disappointment, but we knew how to recover and score the decisive goal," he said.
Pérez expressed his joy at climbing positions in the table and increasing the income with some of the teams that occupy a relegation place: "As long as we continue to add and move away from below, much better. It is important to accumulate points always, as it helps to work day by day with optimism."
"After two defeats, the best thing was what happened to us. To win in front of our fans and regain confidence. In terms of performance we have never experienced too many downturns, but we lacked the forcefulness that we now had," he detailed.
The conejero coach wants the progress to "continue and good results to continue to arrive" in Negreira, the next away game.
