J. Lasso C .- CB Tolimar Tres de Mayo was proclaimed champion of the X edition of the San Gines handball Tournament, after defeating Hotel Lancelot-San José Obrero by a resounding 24-35, which clearly shows the great difference that exists at this time between the Tenerife team, which currently plays in the Division de Honor "B" of Spanish handball, and the team prepared by Jesús Casanova.
The match was controlled at all times by the Tenerife team, which started with a partial score of 0-2. From that moment on, the hoteliers tightened with their best weapon for this season, the speed of movement in the 3-2-1 defense and their great counterattack, with Angelito in advanced stealing balls and annoying the attacks of Tres de Mayo, and Luis Morín whose speed allowed to level the match in its first bars.
However, despite these efforts, Tres de Mayo remained true to its game, very hard in defense, and with greater success in the outside shot than those of Titerroy, managed to go to halftime with a clear 14-18 in their favor.
In the second half, Tres de Mayo came out determined to sentence the match and showing off a very tough defense, thanks to which they reached a nine-goal lead in the middle of the second half despite suffering numerous exclusions that were not used by the locals to reduce distances on the scoreboard.
At the end of the match, the result (24-35) seemed fair for the merits contracted by both teams, although in defense of the locals, it should be noted the difficulty of the rival that currently plays in the silver category of Spanish handball and that, for this season, has been reinforced with several high-level players.
Regarding CB San José Obrero, it should be noted that the work developed by Jesús Casanova is beginning to be noticed, revealing a system based on an open 3-2-1 defense and a very rapid defense-attack transition supported by its great goalkeepers, as the main weapons to be used this season. Despite the great losses already known to all, the squad is overflowing with desire and enthusiasm to play a good role in Group "B" of the 1st National Division that will begin on September 24 in Santander against the local team, Adelma B.M. Sinfín.
