Three athletes from the Marlines Canoeing Club of Lanzarote will represent Spain in the ICF Canoe Ocean Racing World Championship, which will be held from September 9 to 15 in San Pierre de Quiberon (France).

The three Mariles paddlers who, after great work throughout the 2018-2019 season, were able to qualify and be selected by the Spanish National Team are Nicolás Betancor Montelongo in the Youth category, Gabriel Cabrera Caraballo in the Under23 category and Matías Di Candía in the Senior category.

On the other hand, there will be representatives from the islands of Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria, who together with the three athletes from Lanzarote and the rest of the athletes from other clubs in the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands will form this great Sea Kayak Selection, which will try to play a great role and return home with the odd medal.

From the Marlines Canoeing Club they explain that "surfski and ocean racing is the modality of canoeing that is currently booming, due to its dynamism." "These are canoes designed to surf on the high seas, with large waves and strong winds. It is competed in the downwind modality, which involves leaving one point and reaching another, covering a distance of 15 to 25 kilometers in favor of the wind and waves," they detail.
