Historic day for the Pingüinos club, which has been proclaimed champion of the Canary Islands in the children's category. This Saturday at the Acidalio Lorenzo pool in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the Regional Championship of the Canary Islands in the children's category of Artistic Swimming took place.

The RCNA Pingüinos Club expedition consisted of 12 athletes: Laura Alemán, Cristina Benítez, Daniela Brito, Adriana Cabrera, Eduardo Curbelo, Begoña Eguía, Elena Eguía, Miguel Martínez, Vega Martínez, Maeva Méndez, Sofía Méndez and Victoria Romero. The athletes were accompanied by coach Verónica González and sports director Lara Cabello.

In the morning session, the figures competition took place in which Vega Martínez was proclaimed Champion of the Canary Islands, also achieving two silvers in her year, Victoria Romero 2010 and Miguel Martínez 2011. Next, the Combo took place with a bronze as a result.

In the afternoon, the Duets competition was held with a gold in the mixed duet made up of Adriana Cabrera and Miguel Martínez. Finally, the team competition was held as a closing event, finishing second behind the all-powerful C.N. Metropole.

The final climax came with the sum of all the competitions, with the club finishing first and therefore new champion of the Canary Islands in the children's category.

"The return to Lanzarote took place immediately with the feeling of having reaped the rewards of the great daily work that is carried out," they say from the club.
