The Sports Council of UD Lanzarote continues working on the preparation of the first team's squad for the 2023/2024 season, with the aim of having a group of guaranteed players to compete in group XII of the Third Division. UD Lanzarote has managed to close one of the young promises of Argentine football, incorporating midfielder León Gómez into the squad.
León Gómez Ferreño, born on March 15, 2002 in Ituzaingó (Buenos Aires), is a right-footed player of 1.74 meters in height who usually occupies the position of midfielder on the field. A footballer who stands out for his verticality, has a powerful shot with his right leg, and has an enormous capacity for association with the rest of his teammates in the team's attack zone.
During his training stage, he defended the colors of Boca Juniors in the children's category and Allboys in the youth category. In 2019, River Plate made an important investment to acquire the services of the player, remaining in the River Plate reserve team since his arrival. In search of a greater number of minutes in a professional category, he has played in the last year for Club Almagro and UAI Urquiza, teams from the Primera B Nacional of Argentina.
The player, who will occupy a sub'23 place, has dual Argentine and Spanish nationality, and is a future bet of the Sports Council of UD Lanzarote. For this reason, he has recently terminated his contract in Argentina and signed with UD Lanzarote for the next two seasons and with a third optional in the clauses that link him to the rojillo team.
León Gómez becomes the eighth signing of UD Lanzarote for the 2023-2024 season, and joins the incorporations of central defender Luciano Pierce 'Chuky', right-sided player Alex Cruz, midfielders Joni Tejera, Guize Medina and Dani González, and attacking midfielders Ale Fuentes and Santiago Rosa.
In the chapter of renewals, the Sports Council of UD Lanzarote has closed the continuity of Gonzalo Di Renzo, Adrián Machín, Ruymán Fernández, Raúl Fernández, Alejandro Martín, Javi Martín, Ismael Traore and Ayoze Pérez.
