The teaching material to publicize the Economic and Fiscal Regime of the Canary Islands (REF) in the different educational levels will reach, after its inclusion in Primary, Secondary, and Baccalaureate, Vocational Training, whose classrooms expect to host more than 50,000 students next year, of which more than 2,000 will do so in Lanzarote.

This was announced this Monday at a press conference by the regional Minister of Education, Poli Suárez, and the REF commissioner, José Ramón Barrera, who, in addition to presenting the content on the so-called Canarian charter that students about to enter the labor market will study, highlighted the success stories of the use of its fiscal and economic tools represented by the business groups Cicar and Barber or the Palmeran bakery Zulay.

Barrera considered that the inclusion of subjects on the REF in the entire educational system represents a milestone with which it is expected to correct the detachment that exists around this Canarian charter, so that the entire island population "feels it as what it is, a historical right" that young people must defend to guarantee its continuity.

The commissioner insisted that the REF tools can be used as "a lever for business growth and the economy in general" to compensate for the disadvantages of starting a business from "a fragmented land with scarce natural resources."

Faced with the "mantra" that its instruments "are tools to pay less taxes or receive subsidies," he stressed that thanks to the REF, the Canary Islands "receive compensations for water capture, electricity production, freight transport, or passenger transport."

The regional Minister of Education, Poli Suárez, expressed his satisfaction that during this legislature, the Canarian "Bible" has been successfully publicized in the classrooms of the entire public education system of the islands, a commitment that, in his opinion, is especially relevant in Vocational Training, so closely linked to the future employment of its students.

"When we arrived at the Ministry, someone told us: we have to copy the Basque model, the German model. I believe that we are consolidating the Canarian model, Canarian Vocational Training," Suárez said about the impetus his department has given to this type of training in the last three years.

In addition to updating the map of Canarian Vocational Training, designed 30 years ago, he said, integrated centers have been launched where 46,700 students are trained, a figure that, given the 38,000 pre-registrations formalized so far for the next academic year, may exceed 50,000.

"We have installed all professional families and island-based vocational training, in line with the reality of each of the islands," which has allowed the opening of integrated vocational training centers in El Hierro, La Gomera, or the south of Fuerteventura, thus responding in the latter case to "a demand of centuries, as the other one says" and which "no one had" attended to.

The subjects on the REF in Vocational Training will be taught in three modules: two introductory ones, available for all professional families, and one specialization module, which is added to the offer of Administration and Management.
