More than fifty sailors have been participating in the Lemes Winter League for the last three months, an internal competition of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife that has been developed in the Optimist and ILCA 4 classes, with the Snipe class joining in the last day of regattas.
In total, six days of regattas were scheduled in the bay of the island's capital, which have served to complement the training of the club's young sailors.
The last day of regattas took place on the morning of last Saturday, with gentle southeast winds, which allowed the celebration of the three races scheduled to conclude the Lemes Winter League. In addition to the usual participation of the ILCA 4 and Optimist classes, this time the participation of three teams from the Snipe class was added.
In the Optimist class, Unai Ugarte Herrera scored the partial victory in two of the three races held, results that earned him the absolute victory in the Lemes Winter League, and also in the sub'16 category.
The second position on the podium was Faina Tavío Gutiérrez, who was also the winner of the women's category. And the podium was completed by Gonzalo Presa Heredia with the third position and also being the winner of the sub'13 category. Valentina de la Hoz Chaves and Julia López Viña, completed the podium of the women's category of the Optimist modality, occupying the second and third position, respectively.
As for the sub'13 category, Valentina de la Hoz was the second classified and the podium was completed by Alfonso Garcías Cruz with the third position. As for the ILCA 4 category, the absolute victory was for Alba Romero Pereyra, also being the winner of the sub'18 category.
The second place on the podium was for Attenery García Cabo, and Adriana Bravo de Laguna Ferrer took the third position, also being the winner of the sub'16 category. The men's podium was headed by Pablo de Eusebio Fontes, followed by Ulises Montesdeoca Molina and Hugo Olivero Molina.
The Lemes Winter League started on September 29, with the celebration of 6 days and in which a total of 13 races were completed in the ILCA 4 and Optimist classes. An internal competition of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife that closed with the awards ceremony and that has served for the young sailors of the club to complement their training with competition regattas in the bay of Arrecife.
