The first team of Ciudad de Arrecife Chacón Lanzarote is going through a sweet moment in the First National Men's Handball League. San José Obrero has found its best game in the final stretch of the first round of the competition, with the technical staff led by Jesús Casanova managing to grease each of the team's pieces and developing a devastating game on the court. On Saturday afternoon, Ciudad de Arrecife Chacón Lanzarote achieved a resounding victory against Gran Canaria Villa de Ingenio and finished the first part of the competition in the places that would give them the right to play the promotion phase at the end of the season.

The week had been complicated for Gran Canaria Villa de Ingenio, a team that this season is fighting to avoid entering the low positions of the classification. Faced with this situation, the coach of the Gran Canaria team submitted his resignation last week and Samuel Suárez, one of the most veteran players of the team, has taken over the reins of the bench. The opposite of what is happening within Ciudad de Arrecife Chacón Lanzarote, living a pleasant week and with the tranquility of preparing a complicated match with great enthusiasm.

The match began with two teams that had closed defenses on the playing court, with equality being the tonic of the first section of the match. Neither of the two teams managed to have clear advantages, with the draw being common on the scoreboard of the Pedro Padilla Municipal Pavilion. Ciudad de Arrecife Chacón Lanzarote moved the ball with great criteria, looking for the best launching options due to the reduced dimensions of the pavilion.

In the final stretch of the first half, Ciudad de Arrecife Chacón Lanzarote began to put land in between, enjoying the first clear incomes. Nelson Espino was in charge of leading the attack of San José Obrero, playing a good match and being the top scorer of the match with eleven goals. The 6:0 defense of Ciudad de Arrecife Chacón Lanzarote, with Agustín Robert and Nelson impassable in the center and the good interventions of goalkeeper Sergio Bonilla, made it possible for the Lanzarote team to go to the break with a five-goal advantage.

Ciudad de Arrecife Chacón Lanzarote did not lift its foot off the accelerator at the beginning of the second half, coming onto the playing court very focused, taking control of the game and increasing the differences to seven goals. The team was very comfortable on the playing court, seeing the best minutes of San José Obrero. They embroidered it in defense, without haste in attack and controlling the time of the match, to end up despairing the rival who committed errors in the face of the precipitation of being behind on the scoreboard.

The advantages did not drop below five goals, with Ciudad de Arrecife Chacón Lanzarote living a comfortable second half and reaching the end of the match with the result of 24 to 30. A final stretch of the first round in which the team from the Titerroy neighborhood has found its best game of the season, managing to ensure that the new additions are fully integrated into the squad.

Ciudad de Arrecife Chacón Lanzarote closes the first round of the competition in a promotion play-off position, occupying the second place in the classification. The Lanzarote team is one point behind the leader, finishing the first round with 21 points. The competition does not resume until January 17, when San José Obrero will visit BM Aguilar. The Lanzarote squad will enjoy a few days of rest, returning to work in the first days of January.

The negative note of the Canarian derby of the First National Men's Handball League was starred by the board of directors of Gran Canaria Villa de Ingenio. The Gran Canaria team set the match against Ciudad de Arrecife Chacón Lanzarote at 18:00 on Saturday, preventing the conejero team from returning to Lanzarote and having to spend the night in Gran Canaria. An ugly gesture on the part of Gran Canaria Villa de Ingenio, forcing San José Obrero to make a greater economic outlay.
