The Club Deportivo Pingüinos de Arrecife competed this past weekend in the Winter Artistic Swimming Championship. More than 40 clubs participated in the event held in Sabadell.
Specifically, 17 swimmers from the children's category and ten from the children's category traveled to Catalonia. The club has added that its athletes obtained "magnificent results."
The Arrecife club achieved sixth place in Combo Alevín among 33 participants. The team was made up of the swimmers Avril Bethencourt, Julieta Cabrera, Alba de Eusebio, Nora Díaz, Vega Jiménez, Lucía Martín, Carlota Martín, Carla Martín, Noa Nieto, Mar Saavedra, Martyna Golawska (reserve) and Miranda Morales (reserve). In addition, it obtained the seventh position by clubs in the children's category.
The swimmer Vega Martínez achieved 36th position in Figures among 341 children's competitors, qualifying as the first athlete from the Canary Islands. While the brothers Miguel and Vega Martínez, with Laura Alemán as a substitute, obtained fourth place in the Children's Mixed Duo category. Thus, the swimmer Miguel Martínez reached third place in the Children's Male Figures category and Eduardo Curbelo fourth. In the Children's Male Figures category, Lucio Bethencourt obtained 11th place.
In this sense, the penguin club was placed tenth in the Children's classification and first in the Canary Islands. Among the participants were Laura Alemán, Maeva Méndez, Victoria Romero, Adriana Cabrera, Sofía Méndez, Eduardo Cabrera, Dolores de Leon, Daniela Brito, Miguel Martínez and Vega Martínez.
The team has highlighted the positions in Figures of Vega Jiménez (51), Adriana Cabrera (80) Victoria Romero (90) and Mar Saavedra (93) positioning themselves among the top 100 of their respective categories.
All of this has made it possible for both categories (children and children) to be classified for the Spanish Summer Championship of the first division, which will once again repeat its venue in Sabadell.
