The Government of the Canary Islands will support with 1.6 million euros small and medium-sized cultural projects carried out by companies, entities, and professionals from the islands. These are subsidies intended for proposals in performing arts, music, literature, and comics, with a budget of less than 100,000 euros, scheduled for the second half of 2025 and the first half of 2026.

The counselor of the area, Migdalia Machín, has signed the order that approves the bases of this call. These will be effective from their publication in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands (BOC), scheduled for the coming days, although they are available for consultation on the website of the department.

A line of grants that "contributes to the reinforcement, stabilization, and diversification of our cultural activity, with more than 120 projects supported in the previous edition," recalls Machín. The counselor also points out how cultural dynamization favors social cohesion and the achievement of the objectives of the Canary Agenda for Sustainable Development 2030."

The projects and activities must be related to the performing and musical arts (dance, theater, circus arts and music); literature (narrative, poetry, essay, dramaturgy and oral narration) or comic (graphic novel and comic). Among the requirements demanded to qualify for these aids is that the activities are held in Canarias, and in in-person, virtual or hybrid format, with public attendance in all three cases.

In general, these bases establish the specific rules of this call aimed at projects belonging to the cultural and creative sectors, in order to foster the Canarian cultural industry and programming in cultural spaces, open and closed, as a way to consolidate and attract new audiences, as well as its dissemination through physical and digital platforms.

In the performing and musical arts modality, space is given to the programming and exhibition of artistic residencies in performing spaces, exhibition in private venues, festivals, showcases, workshops, markets, congresses, sectoral meetings, and other similar cultural events related to dance, theater, circus arts, and music.

In literature, activities for promotion, dissemination, revitalization, and encouragement of reading can be presented, encounters with authors, discussion panels and debates, storytelling, oral narration, and dramatized readings. Also festivals, showcases, conferences, markets, congresses, outreach activities, professional meetings, seminars, exhibitions, actions aimed at disseminating Canarian literature, and other similar cultural events in this field.

This call is an initiative of the General Directorate of Cultural Innovation and Creative Industries, with the Canary Institute for Cultural Development (ICDC) being the collaborating entity.
