San José Obrero cadets win semi-finals against Zonzamas

The Men's Cadet Handball Championship of the Canary Islands experienced its second day of competition last Saturday, April 15, with the remaining matches of the first phase being held in the morning and the semi-finals of the tournament in the afternoon. Ca´Mario Lanzarote San José Obrero had done its homework on the opening day, after defeating Moya Tilover (30-20) and Balonmano Realejos (24-17). CB Zonzamas would be the rival of the team from the Titerroy neighborhood in the semi-final round.

The island derby started with a lot of equality, with the two teams knowing each other perfectly after facing each other several times on the island of Lanzarote. Ca´Mario Lanzarote obtained a slight advantage, but a partial score of 1 to 6 put Zonzamas ahead for the first time on the scoreboard (10-11). Pedro Noda was in charge of establishing the tie, and in the minutes of the first part they took off the scoreboard to go to the break with a 4-goal advantage (19-15).

Ca´Mario Lanzarote began to steer the victory in the first minutes of the second half, a period that began with a partial score of 4 to 1 in favor of the players led by Quique Martín (23-16). Until the end of the match, it was time to manage the advantage that had been acquired to end up prevailing over CB Zonzamas by 34 to 27.

Moto Sport Juani Gáldar will be the rival of Ca´Mario Lanzarote San José Obrero in the final of the Men's Cadet Championship of the Canary Islands. The people from Gáldar have shown their solvency throughout the competition, achieving victory in the first phase against CB Zonzamas (50-20) and against Club Deportivo Ciudad de Puerto (17-44). In the semi-finals, the team from Gran Canaria beat Balonmano Realejos (32-11).

The final was played from 10:30 a.m. at the Morro Jable Municipal Sports Center, and at stake will not only be the title of champion of the Canary Islands, but also the ticket to play the Sector Phase of the Men's Cadet Handball Championship of Spain.
