The champion of the League and the champion of the Cup of Canarian wrestling of Lanzarote had an appointment this past Friday in the Ulpiano Rodríguez Pérez arena of Tías to decide who would be the winner of the second Lanzarote Super Cup "Memorial Mamerto Cabrera Medina", also being a charity event where funds were raised to thank the Red Cross for its constant support in each fight.
The Lucha Unión Sur Yaiza club could not count on its leader Carlos Moreno, who had to be absent due to the illness of a close family member. Thus, the Lucha Tao Club had it a little easier against the southerners, although they did not give their arm to twist at any time during the fight.
The first chairs began to give a certain advantage to the team led by Manolo Martín without the team of Ángel Lago being able to do anything to remedy that slight advantage of only 3 points. The fight until that moment was being quite fast and beautiful but it slowed down as the middle wrestlers entered where the yellow team even came to have an advantage on the scoreboard.
Manolo Martín did not want to be confident and asked for more commitment from his wrestlers who went from losing 8 to 9 to turning the score around. Marcos Franquiz eliminated Alejandro Betancort and Esaú Martín while Roberto Barrios did the same with Fabio Martín, reaching a score of 11 to 9. The final fight between Cristo Hernández and Moisés Olivero ended with two separations which gave the victory to the wrestling club of the municipality of Teguise by 12 to 10.
The clubs on the island of Lanzarote gave gifts to the Cabrera Medina family, some bouquets of flowers for them and a large stone clock with Canarian Wrestling motifs for the family. At the end of the fight, Moisés Olivero was awarded as the most valuable wrestler of the Super Cup, with the Lucha Unión Sur Yaiza Club receiving the runner-up trophy and the Lucha Tao Club the champion trophy of this second edition of the Mamerto Cabrera Medina Super Cup.
Now the clubs will begin their vacations while they finish outlining the squads for the next season, this break will only be interrupted by the Lucha Tao Club, which will still hold a friendly fight against Unión Norte on the island of La Graciosa.
