The tenth edition of the Ultrabike Club Santa Rosa Lanzarote celebrated a MTB party with nearly 500 participants who wanted to join the different modalities that left two days of frantic competition from April 27 to 28.

Pedro Rodríguez from Palma and Tereza Tvarůžková from Czech Republic were the winners with a spectacular record of 4.27.55 and 5.10.28, respectively in the sum classification of the Ultra Santa Rosa modality, of 107km, and the Time Trial La Graciosa – Líneas Romero, of 16 kilometers.

Raúl Castrillo (4:29:26) and also Czech Milan Damek (4:29:25), would follow Rodríguez in the male category. While the female podium was completed by Carmen Martín from Cordoba (5:34:17) and Lourdes Bethencourt from Gran Canaria, recently proclaimed national champion M40, (5:43:24), who repeats podium in Costa Teguise for the fourth consecutive time, having already the Ultrabike Club Santa Rosa Lanzarote as a fixed event in her sports calendar.

Also noteworthy was the sum table of the Bike Costa Teguise category, headed by Sergio Pérez (2:38:06) and Esther Perdomo (3:19:34), followed by Sebastián Benasco (2:39:07) and Diego Cañadas (2:42:38) in male; and Verónica Vila (3:24:07) and Yobana Charlin (3:32:22), in female.

The first assault took place on the eighth island, serving as an idyllic backdrop in which to begin the expected tenth anniversary of this competition with the acclaimed Time Trial La Graciosa - Líneas Romero that started at 11:00h. Already from hours before, the boat transfer from Órzola was the perfect excuse to exchange experiences and objectives between participants of all levels, leaving an excellent atmosphere of camaraderie only surpassed by the spectacular exclusive landscapes of La Graciosa in a unique event on this island.

In the time trial, Rodríguez (26:47.71) and Tvarůžková (32:25.22) repeated at the top, who together with the rest of the competitors left impressive images in the 16km of the Graciosa circuit on the spectacular surface of jable and the Chinijo Archipelago as witnesses of the also remarkable times of Jacob Reyes from Tenerife (27:15.56) and Castrillo (27:40.98), in male; and the French Danièle Troesch (33:08.80) and, again, the Cordovan from Conway CBC Trujillo (33:41.68), in female.

The highlight would take place on the following day, starting at 08:30h, in the vicinity of the Club Santa Rosa in Costa Teguise, with the Ultra Santa Rosa (107km) and Bike Costa Teguise (53km) modalities, which showed the great reception of the fans by this sporting event from Lanzarote, capable of bringing together spectators of numerous nationalities, as happened in its own list of registered in which more than a dozen countries were represented, such as Italy, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, Austria, Colombia, Uruguay, Argentina, Venezuela or Cuba, among others.

The Ultra Santa Rosa podiums did not suffer too much variation with respect to the sum of the Time Trial, with the same classification at the head for the females and in which, in male, only Castrillo would ascend to the second position and Reyes would leave space on the podium for Damek, who achieved a very tight result to occupy the third step for which he left a very tight fight that Lukas Kaufmann, Austrian professional of the elite, could well have occupied, who had to settle for fourth place.

For their part, Fran Arbelo (1:59:54), Borja Alonso (2:01:12) and Sergio Pérez (2:05:18) were the fastest in the Bike Costa Teguise modality, in addition to Ana Lucía Perdomo (2:31:41), Mari Carmen Arjo (2:36:20) and Esther Perdomo (2:39:37), who occupied the female podium while fans and spectators recognized the effort of almost half a thousand participants in this tenth anniversary that knew how to live up to expectations.

This is how the essence of Ultrabike Club Santa Rosa made itself felt again, being able to unite elite athletes with amateur bikers who were able to share great moments with national and international references, both in the moments prior to the starting gun of the two days of competition, as in its already mythical meeting in the surroundings of Órzola and La Graciosa, in the spectacular exit of Costa Teguise or the different post-carreta surprises that the organization had prepared with live music concerts, meals or photo sessions.

This is how the awards ceremony was lived, which was also attended by institutional representatives, both from the Teguise City Council with its mayoress, Olivia Duque at the head, as well as from the Cabildo de Lanzarote and the Minister of Sports, Juan Monzón, who congratulated the management of the event and the figure of Félix Echevarría, for this new success in an event that has become a benchmark of MTB inside and outside the island.
