A great women's basketball game was experienced at the Maristas School of A Coruña, pitting the host team against Magec Tías Against Gender Violence, which culminated in a Galician victory by 67 to 61, which was forged in the final minutes of the match.
From the beginning, the match was characterized by its intensity, with both teams fighting tirelessly for each basket. Despite having only three rotations on the bench, the Lanzarote team remained in the fight, although the physical wear and tear was noticeable.
In the second quarter, the Galician players imposed a higher pace and demonstrated greater precision in their plays, achieving an 8-0 run that gave them a 15-point advantage over the red-and-black team. Coach Jesús García looked for solutions, but shots from the outside and the inside game were not effective. Despite remaining united in defense, the inability to score affected their position on the scoreboard, reaching halftime with a score of 41 to 29 against.
In the second half, Magec Tías recovered and began to dominate the game, erasing the locals from the court. Although shots from outside continued to be a challenge, field goals began to go in, and the defense was strengthened. With a 0 to 8 run, the visiting team felt driven, especially under the direction of a prominent Joana Ferreira, who brought order and meaning to the Lanzarote game. The last quarter arrived with a score of 50 to 49 in favor of the locals, while the visitors were determined to maintain their pace and take the victory to the Canary Islands. They even achieved a 6-point advantage, but the game was not decided.
With one minute left, the local players turned the score around, taking advantage of the Lanzarote players' fatigue from the effort, finally taking the victory on their home turf. Magec Tías Against Gender Violence played an excellent game and now returns home to prepare for the next match, in which they will visit the Homs UE Mataró Femení Maresme court. It is a new opportunity in the league competition to leave this defeat behind and focus on returning to the path of victory.
