The second round of the Caja de Canarias Canarian Wrestling Tournament began with an exciting fight. CL Arrecife and CL Tao, the two finalists of the Lanzarote Island Tournament, met on the sand of the Ciudad Deportiva Lanzarote arena. CL Tao took revenge for the last two defeats and defeated CL Arrecife by 11 to 12. A result that leaves CL Unión Norte as the sole leader of the competition.
About 150 people came to the Ciudad Deportiva Lanzarote on Saturday night to witness the most outstanding fight of the sixth day of the Caja de Canarias Tournament. The first chairs of the confrontation were dominated by CL Guadarfía Arrecife. The youth Camilo Durán defeated Alexander Barrios and Rubén Barrios. For his part, Yeray Mayor eliminated Tanausú Lorenzo and Raúl Guedes eliminated Sixto Rodríguez, Juan José Guillén and Miguel Ángel Niz.
CL Guadarfía Arrecife obtained a comfortable advantage on the scoreboard (7-3) and that was going to force the Tao fighters to work hard to achieve victory. David Cabrera was one of the most outstanding fighters of Tao, defeating three rivals (Dario García, Yeray Mayor and Alejandro Collado), before falling at the hands of Agustín Mayor.
Much was expected of the confrontation between Raúl Guedes and Andrés Carmelo Guillén, with both fighters being eliminated by three warnings in the first grapple. For his part, Román Ávila eliminated the youth Camilo Durán and fell at the hands of Wenceslao Gil, who gave him the two in a row.
Mario Franquiz was the great protagonist of the night and with his performance he guided CL Tao to the final victory. He jumped onto the sand of the Ciudad Deportiva Lanzarote arena to eliminate Juan Medina. The Arrecife fighter won the first grapple, but in the next two Franquiz reacted. He had fewer problems eliminating Rubén Bonilla, whom he gave the two in a row, and Wenceslao Gil put up more resistance. The Arrecife fighter scored the first and made Mario Franquiz suffer in the second and third grapple.
With the score tied at 11, the fight had to be resolved with the confrontation between Agustín Mayor and Mario Franquiz. The first two grapples ended in separated, with both fighters adding three warnings for passivity in the fight. Agustín Mayor tried in the third grapple and the locals even demanded a new warning for Mario Franquiz, not being understood in that way by the referees. And in a slip-up by the Arrecife fighter, Mario Franquiz defeated Agustín Mayor, and gave his team the victory by 11 to 12.
After the dispute of the sixth day, CL Unión Norte remains as the sole leader of the Caja de Canarias Canarian Wrestling Tournament, having 16 points to its credit.
