Excellent match played by Magec Tías this past Saturday against the leader of the Women's League 2, Tirso Incentro from Santander. A superb first quarter, with a partial score of 24 to 6 favorable to the local players, was enough to keep the match under control against one of the leading teams in the category.
Jesús García's players were very aware of the work that had to be done, both offensively and defensively, achieving an 11-0 streak that put the peninsular team against the ropes right from the start of the match. Not even the timeouts requested by the visiting coach could get the match back on track, laying the foundations for a victory that the Lanzarote team should not let slip away.
The visiting players came onto the court in the second quarter with more impetus, but the locals gave their all defensively, preventing the Cantabrians from remembering what was happening in Arrecife. With great dominance of the game under the hoops by Magec Tías, as well as an accurate outside shot, allowed the Lanzarote advantage to be 16 points at halftime, with the locals winning provisionally by 36 to 20.
It was clear that upon returning to the court after the break, the conditions of the match would be very different. The red and black team would stop playing with that joy in attack due to the rival's push, but they would have to strengthen themselves in defense because they knew that Tirso Incentro would want to make this third quarter their own so that they could get into the match heading into the last partial. However, the Lanzarote defense was one of the strongest that the locals have seen in a long time and, although the partial score during the third quarter was 6 to 6, the work done in capturing balls and the impossibility of the rival shooting at the basket freely deserves a mention.
Thanks to that defensive work, they reached the last quarter with the score at 42 to 26. Although the objective in this last partial continued to be the same, defensive strength, the moral decline of the Santander team allowed the difference to gradually increase to 27 points.
Great work by Jesús García from the bench, coaching staff and the players who put all the meat on the grill to achieve a resounding and important victory that would break the streak of three consecutive defeats. The final victory by 58 to 31, with 38 rebounds achieved, of which 30 were under their own hoop, with 61 valuation points, of which 21 were from a spectacular Dami Adeyinka, with a 43% success rate from the outside line compared to 4% of the rival, it was well worth going to the Lanzarote Sports City and enjoying the show given by the locals.
With 4 wins and 5 losses in their locker, next week Magec Tías "Against Gender Violence" will visit Maristas de La Coruña, who face the match after losing to Ingenia Solar Energy Costa de Almería by 65 to 59, which leaves the Galicians with only two wins this season. It will be the penultimate match of the year 2022 for the locals, who will still have to play on December 17 at home against Bosonit Unibasket from Logroño.
