The bay of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria hosted this past weekend the celebration of the Canary Islands Championship – Canary Islands Day of Optimist “Trofeo Baleària Canarias”, a competition that had a wide participation of sailors from the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife. Lola Carrión had great navigation over the two days of competition, achieving victory in this new trophy, and her teammates Leandro de la Hoz and Pablo Curbelo also climbed onto the podium in their respective categories.
The team from the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife that participated in the Canary Islands Championship – Canary Islands Day of Optimist was made up of thirteen sailors. Rosalía Lasso Morales, Pablo Curbelo Betancort, Athenea Uxia Rodríguez Guadalupe, Yeico José Díaz Molina, Leandro de la Hoz Chávez, Pelayo Sánchez Reguero, María Rizo García, Santiago Torres Bravo de Laguna Ferrer, Julián Suárez Sperner, Valentina de la Hoz Chávez, Alfonso Garcías Cruz, Gonzalo Presa Heredia, and Lola Carrión Morales traveled to Gran Canaria. The sailors were accompanied by technicians Carlos Hidalgo and Hugo Robayna.
Lola Carrión once again showed her skill on the race course throughout the weekend, and achieved victory in five of the six races held in the bay of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. A consistency that allowed the sailor from the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife to take the title of champion of the Canary Islands Championship – Canary Islands Day of Optimist, and she also conquered the first position in the under-13 and under-16 categories.
The sailors from the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife had a remarkable weekend and several members of the team climbed onto the podium in different categories. Leandro de la Hoz was the third classified in the male under-13 category, and Pablo Curbelo was the third classified in the under-11 category.
The president of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife, Julio Romero, and the Board of Directors, congratulate Lola Carrión Morales for this new success in the optimist class, demonstrating that she is one of the best sailors at a national level and is preparing to compete in the European Championship in a few weeks. Congratulations are also extended to the rest of the team members and the technicians, for the excellent work done.
