UD Las Palmas center-back Saúl Coco has stated that he takes the interest of other clubs in him as "something natural" and a "good sign", after his remarkable season with the yellow team, sole leader of LaLiga SmartBank, although he did not start as a starter, relegating Brazilian Sidnei, one of the signings, to the bench.

The Lanzarote-born center-back, an international with Equatorial Guinea, has become a key player in the island's defense, alongside Eric Curbelo, and has a contract in force until 2025.

"I take things naturally, I'm happy because I'm in a good moment, with confidence, and it's a good sign if they are interested in me, but I'm calm and eager to continue growing as a player," he said this Thursday at a press conference.

Coco, 23, emphasizes that the entire team "has taken a step forward" in the defensive aspect, "improving things, being brave, and we have shown that when we have to come together, we also do well".

UD Las Palmas will host Albacete Balompié next Sunday, a rival against whom they must offer "the best version so that the points stay at home", in a match that is expected to be "very complicated" because the team from La Mancha will try to make the match "uncomfortable" for them.

Coco has the "thorn in his side" of not having scored a goal this season, despite his condition as a defender, and that is why he tries especially with shots "from outside the area".

The Lanzarote-born center-back has thanked the yellow fans for their support in the double visit to Sporting de Gijón (0-1) and Oviedo (0-0), and believes that "there is no need to ask them to come on Sunday", but recalls that with their support they are "much stronger".

The training session this Thursday has been, exceptionally, open to the public at the Gran Canaria Stadium, where more than a thousand fans have followed the preparatory session of the yellow team, taking advantage of the holiday.
