The Lanzarote fighters, Marina Farray and Arón Hernández, had an outstanding performance in the Grappling World Championship that took place in Pontevedra, where both managed to return to the island of Lanzarote with several medals in their possession.
In the case of Marina Farray, she managed to win two gold medals, managing to revalidate the titles obtained during the previous World Championship, held in Russia. In this way, the athlete demonstrates that she is one of the great promises of both the discipline and sports at a national and international level.
For his part, Arón Hernández also had an outstanding performance after obtaining a silver and a bronze medal in the international competition.
After their successes, both were received together with Jonathan Hernández, coach of TAZ Lanzarote, this Wednesday by Astrid Pérez, mayor of Arrecife and Rosmen Quevedo, councilor for Sports, at the capital's Town Hall where the athletes were presented with a gift from the Institution.
“It is a pride as mayor to have athletes of such a high level, thus demonstrating the quarry that the city has in martial arts”, says Astrid Pérez.
The councilor thanked “the work that TAZ Lanzarote does for sports in the capital”. He also highlighted that “Arrecife Capital of Sports is thanks to people like Marina Farray and Arón Hernández, who fight to reach the highest level in their sports modality”.
