The organization of the "Yaiza Extremo Sur" has received this week the approval from the Canarian Mountain Federation (FECAMON) to be part of the official calendar of "Mountain Races 2023". This decision is endorsed after the evaluation of the event held in the southern municipality during the past month of August by several federative representatives, among which was Rayco Saavedra, president of the entity.
In the last edition, the "Yaiza Extremo Sur" proposed distances of 30, 16 and 8 km for the Trail Run modality, although the test has the singularity of also offering challenges in Mountain Bike (MTB) of 58 and 35 km, managing to bring together this year more than 300 athletes.
In this way, FECOM includes the race in the calendar of the Line Race Cup, where the Pilcones Tunte Trail (Gran Canaria), Full Moon Trail (La Palma), Tinajo You Trail (Lanzarote), Bimbache Trail Valverde (El Hierro) and the Santa Cruz Extreme (Tenerife) are already located.

Óscar Noda, mayor of Yaiza, wanted to congratulate both the Southern Sports Council, as well as the participating athletes and the sponsoring companies that "have made this collective success possible, which encourages us to continue promoting the different sports disciplines from the youth academy", said the leader.
For his part, Ángel Lago, sports councilor of Yaiza, recalled that "the celebration of the first edition of the "Yaiza Extremo Sur", in December 2020, was the first sporting event held in Lanzarote after the toughest months of the pandemic, so the test evokes desire, decision, drive, courage and responsibility, the same spirit that maintains it and makes it grow".
