The Lanzarote Island Veteran Football League, a competition organized by the Conejero Veteran Football Association (AFUVECO), faces the final stretch of the 2023/2024 season, with the play-offs for the title of champion in the 'Preferred Category and the promotion of the First Category' being played this week. La Asomada and Playa Honda, the top two finishers in the regular season, will fight for the title of champion of the highest category of the league competition.
La Asomada and CD Teguise played one of the semi-finals of the play-off for the title of the Preferred category, a match that was resolved with the victory of the team from the municipality of Tías by 3 to 1. In the first half, the locals took a one-goal lead and sealed the match in the second half. Ayoze Rodríguez, Alejandro García and Alejandro López were the authors of the goals for La Asomada, and Víctor Mederos scored the goal for CD Teguise.
The second semi-final was played between Playa Honda and Guatiza, teams that finished the regular season in second and third position. Playa Honda had no problems accessing the final, imposing itself by 3 to 0 to its rival. The Lanzarote Sports City hosted on Monday night the match between Campos de Lanzarote and Playa Blanca, with the southerners taking the victory by 1 to 3. Playa Blanca achieved a two-goal lead in the first half and before the break, Alejandro Álvarez narrowed the gap for Campos de Lanzarote. Cristian Tutaluma (2) and Daniel Dos Santos scored the goals for the visitors' triumph.
The second semi-final of the fight for promotion faced Inter Playa Honda against FC Conil, a match that ended with a goalless draw. The better classification of Inter Playa Honda in the regular phase of the competition allows them to access the final of the promotion phase to the Preferred category.
Semi-finals of the Veteran Football Cup
The Conejero Veteran Football Association (AFUVECO) has set the celebration of the semi-finals of the Veteran Football Cup for next Monday. In the Municipal Pancho Bermúdez of Tías, La Asomada and Playa Honda will face each other, curiously the two teams that in a few weeks will play the final of the Lanzarote Island Veteran Football League.
