The anticipated election process for the presidency of the Island Federation of Lateen Sail Boats of Lanzarote culminated with the inauguration of the new president, a position that Juan Manuel Pérez Cabrera will hold for the next two years. It was the only candidacy presented for the presidency of the federative entity, having the necessary endorsements and being proclaimed as elected by the Electoral Board.
The headquarters of the Island Federation of Lateen Sail Boats of Lanzarote, located in the Island Center of Nautical Sports, hosted on Thursday afternoon the inauguration of the new president of the island entity. An event that was attended by Ruymán Pérez, president of the Electoral Board, and Luis Toledo Romero, president of the Canary Federation of Lateen Sail Boats. There was also the presence of several representatives of public institutions, including Juan Monzón, Minister of Sports of the Cabildo of Lanzarote.
Juan Manuel Pérez highlighted that "a group of people has been formed who want to work for and for the lateen sail of Lanzarote" and added that "the Federation is open to everyone and appreciates the work of all the collaborators with whom we will continue to count." The new president explained that the first objective will be to organize the entire calendar of the new season within the modalities of 8.55 meters and 5 meters.
The Board of Directors of the Island Federation of Lateen Sail Boats of Lanzarote will be chaired by Juan Manuel Pérez Cabrera and Luis Romero will occupy the vice presidency of the federative entity. Nieves Arrocha will be the secretary and Ángela San Ginés will serve as treasurer. In addition, Omaira Padrón, Carlos Iván Rodríguez “Cuti”, Marta Páez, Bruno Farraiz and Melquiades Romero will be members.
The members of the new Board of Directors emphasized that they will work on the elaboration of a unified calendar that has the consensus of all, "with the objective of bringing the lateen sail to all corners of the island of Lanzarote".
