Gourmet Ampate Lanzarote appeared before Balonmano Tejina La Laguna with the imperative need to add the victory and not detach from the first two positions in the standings. In addition, the men's team needed to recover the sensations lost on Thursday against Balonmano Ingenio, developing a serious match in general, although not too flashy for the fans because of how matched the two teams were on the playing field.
The first minutes of the match were tentative, with Balonmano Tejina placing the 1-2 on the scoreboard by scoring two goals in a row. The reaction of Gourmet Ampate Lanzarote was immediate, and it came with a 4-0 run that forced the Tenerife team's coach to ask for the first timeout when only six minutes of the match had been played.
Gourmet Ampate Lanzarote was not rushing in its attacking actions, carefully elaborating each of the options and running on the counterattack when it recovered the ball in defense. The 6:0 system in defense was also decisive, not giving the opponent as many facilities as in the match last Thursday, and Javi Santana was very successful under the goalposts.
The defensive strength was key for Balonmano Tejina to be without scoring for the last ten minutes of the first half. In addition, the Tenerife team lost Víctor Oliva, a player who was disqualified with a red card and later shown the blue card by the referees, just before halftime. The first half ended with a score of 11 to 7.
Balonmano Tejina sought a reaction in the first minutes of the second half, a period that began with a 1-3 run. Gourmet Ampate Lanzarote did not lose its calm, knowing that playing as in the first half would not have problems adding the victory, and that is precisely what happened.
Gourmet Ampate Lanzarote continued to develop a fairly effective game, not giving facilities in defense and being successful in attacking actions, despite the good interventions of goalkeeper Gonzalo Arenas under the goalposts. The locals managed the difference they had acquired at will, not letting the opponent get close.
The match ended with a score of 23 to 17, adding Gourmet Ampate Lanzarote a victory that keeps them in third position and five points behind OAR Coruña, a team that this day defeated the leader of the category. The Lanzarote team travels next Saturday to Gran Canaria to face KM13 Gáldar.
