One good turn deserves another. This is how the season of CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife is going in the Women's Silver Division of Honor. The players led by David Betancort once again left two important points on the road this weekend, falling against one of the teams in the lower part of the standings and throwing away the great result achieved in the previous match against Rodríguez Cleba.
The match did not start badly for the interests of CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife on the SAR Rodavigo court, managing to neutralize the goal of local Noelia Solla with goals from Gema Trujijo and pivots Miriam Páez and Neus Llorens (1-3). A start to the match that was a mirage, having to request the Lanzarote coach a time-out in the middle of the period when the scoreboard reflected an 8 to 6 in favor of the locals.
After the instructions from the bench, SAR Rodavigo achieved the maximum lead of the period, establishing 10 to 6 with goals from Xeila Fervenza and Lucía Pérez, with the Galicians taking advantage of Lorena Montilla's exclusion. The reaction of CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife was immediate, with a 1 to 6 run to regain the initiative on the scoreboard (11-12). The score at the end of the first half was 12 to 14.
The women's team of San José Obrero started the second half very cold, conceding a 4-0 run and David Betancort having to request the second time-out of the match. After the instructions from the bench, goals from Miriam Páez and Gema Trujillo served to tie the match again (16-16).
CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife trailed on the scoreboard throughout the second half, seeing SAR Rodavigo enjoy a three-goal lead with nine minutes remaining (24-21). In addition to the poor play of the Lanzarote team in this second half, there was an excessive number of exclusions, having to play many minutes with a numerical disadvantage.
With the score at 28 to 24, the match came to an end, with CICAR Lanzarote Ciudad de Arrecife suffering a defeat that moves them away from the top two positions in the standings at the end of the first round of the competition. The Lanzarote team will play away from home again next weekend, visiting the AD Carballal court.
