Passengers on Jet2 flight LS182 were forced to sleep on the floor at Lanzarote Airport last Saturday, January 3, after the plane could not take off due to bad weather caused by Storm Francis.

The flight was scheduled to depart at 8:15 PM and, although it was delayed by an hour, passengers boarded normally. However, they waited inside seated for about four hours until the pilot finally informed them that the flight had been canceled.

After that, they returned to the terminal where the airline could only find accommodation for some of the passengers. The rest had to sleep on the floor as best they could, on suitcases or chairs. One of the passengers pointed out that "a Jet2 manager who arrived did everything possible to arrange passengers into hotel rooms and also help some passengers with disabilities".

Tourists showed their outrage at the situation, stating that "passengers, including children, were left without food or drink," as Lanzarote Airport closed at 00:00. However, passengers received 20 euros to spend on food and drink, even though the restaurants would not open until early in the morning.

"Some people needed medication and others were crying. I slept on the floor and most people were sleeping on chairs or on the floor too. People just wanted to know what was happening," one of the passengers told the outlet.

Finally, the passengers returned to Manchester on a flight that departed the island at midday on Sunday, which meant a delay of about 16 hours.
