CB San José Obrero Lanzarote began its journey in the second round of the Men's First National League on Saturday afternoon, and did so in an overwhelming manner against the fourth-ranked team in the national category. The Lanzarote team erased Automanía Luceros from the court in the first half of the match and went to halftime with a twelve-goal lead (23-11), and in the second half, they only had to manage the acquired advantage.
The proposal from both teams was evident from the beginning of the match, imprinting a lot of speed to each of the actions. It was CB San José Obrero who made the most of this circumstance, and soon acquired a three-goal advantage. The saves of Javi Santana, and the goals of Ángel Iglesias from the wing and completing a counterattack, put the score at 4-1.
The match entered a phase of inaccuracies, with the locals losing balls very easily, which allowed Automanía Luceros to get into the game. Ignacio Salgado completed a counterattack to tie the score (7-7), and it was Alexis Rodríguez who returned the initiative to the locals on the scoreboard.
CB San José Obrero began to tip the balance in their favor in the middle of the first half, seeing the best minutes of the Lanzarote team on the court. A 5-0 run served to put the score at 17-9, forcing the coach of Automanía Luceros to request a timeout. After the instructions from the bench, San José Obrero continued to do their thing, inflicting a new 4-0 run on their rival (21-9).
The advantage rose above ten goals in the final minutes of the first half, and with the score at 23-11, the first half came to an end. The Lanzarote team had given a whole exhibition of offensive play and defensive strength.
The second half of the match had hardly any history, and at no time did Automanía Luceros give the sensation of being able to get into the match. The locals perfectly managed the advantage they had acquired, and Iñaki Malumbres took the opportunity to distribute the minutes, not overloading his players with physical work.
Resounding victory for CB San José Obrero by 34 to 23 against Automanía Luceros, adding two new points and increasing the difference with respect to their rivals. OAR Coruña fell on the Tejina court, and now the Lanzarote team has a 7-point advantage over the third-placed team. SD Teucro will be the next rival of the team from the Titerroy neighborhood.
