CB Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen won again this Saturday at the Sports City Pavilion against the last classified, El Pendo Camargo (36-21) in a match corresponding to the 20th round of Group A of the Women's Silver Honor Division.
The result leaves the Tiñoseras in first place in the standings but already close to, with six rounds to go, the place for the promotion phase. With 38 points, the aurinegras are followed by Meaño with 26 points, Carballal with 25 and Porriño and Valladolid with 24 points each.
The match against the last classified did not have much history. From minute one the locals took the lead on the scoreboard and, although the Cantabrians held the pace for the first few minutes (4-3, min. 5), the inevitable passage of minutes only made the distances on the scoreboard bigger (17-8, min. 30).
Despite the difference between both teams at halftime, it is worth praising the commitment of the Cantabrian team, which improved its second partial.
The Camargo player with the best aim towards the goal was Carolina Acosta with 8 goals. In the aurinegras ranks, as almost always, Fernanda Insfran was again the top scorer with 8 goals. The Paraguayan international continues as the second top scorer in the league with 160 goals but has the best league scoring average with 8.89 goals per game.
In the 21st league match, Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen visits Siero deportivo Balonmano, a team that comes from losing against Rocasa (30-17) and is third to last in the standings with 6 wins in 20 matches after 3 consecutive defeats. It will be on Saturday, February 25, at 7:00 p.m. (local time), at the Nuevo Polideportivo Municipal de Pola de Siero, a match that, in case of a Tiñosera victory, may mean the confirmed qualification for the promotion phase.
