The positive streak of Chacón Lanzarote San José Obrero came to an end, and the team from Lanzarote suffered its first defeat of the season on Saturday afternoon in Group B of the First National Men's Handball Division. The team, led by Jesús Casanova, suffered from an excessive number of casualties and ended up losing 34-31 against Viveros Herol Balonmano Nava. Despite the defeat, Chacón Lanzarote San José Obrero stood up to one of the teams that are expected to fight for the top spots in the standings this season.

Ciudad de Arrecife Chacón Lanzarote San José Obrero traveled to Balonmano Nava's court with a squad diminished by absences, having up to seven players unavailable for the fifth match of the regular season. Javier Ortigosa, Moisés, Ángel Bonilla, and David Betancort were out of the squad due to injury, while Pedro Noda and Javier Negrín were unable to travel due to various personal issues. Adding to the absences was the Norwegian Rune Larsen, the latest addition to Chacón Lanzarote San José Obrero, who could not travel as his federative transfer had not arrived.

The Lanzarote team started the match with many inaccuracies in ball circulation and a defense that was too soft for what is usually the case. Viveros Herol Balonmano Nava took advantage of this to gain the first advantages on the scoreboard, inflicting a 3-0 run on their rival.

Chacón Lanzarote San José Obrero could not find their usual game, and the home team increased the differences to have leads of up to six goals. Until the end of the first half, Balonmano Nava perfectly managed their advantage, and the halftime score was 20-14. The defense of Chacón Lanzarote San José Obrero conceded many goals, being a team usually known for being very solid in defense.

The start of the second half was uncertain for the interests of Chacón Lanzarote San José Obrero, although as the minutes went by, they began to feel more comfortable on the court. The Portuguese players Felipe and Pedro Teixeira took the team on their shoulders, and with eight goals each, they reduced the advantages of Viveros Herol Balonmano Nava. With five minutes left in the match, the score reflected a tight 31-30, and the present audience had become fearful.

Chacón Lanzarote San José Obrero had an attack to tie the game at 31, and from there, the game went to 32-30. The team from Lanzarote was once again trailing their rival, and the match concluded with a score of 34-31. It could have been worse for Chacón Lanzarote San José Obrero, and they ended up showing their face against one of the teams that are in all the pools to fight for the positions that give the right to play the promotion phase.

Chacón Lanzarote San José Obrero suffers their first defeat of the season and loses their undefeated status in Group B of the First National Men's Handball Division. San José Obrero's next match will be against Balonmano Soria, a match that will be played on Sunday, October 27, at 12:30 pm at the Titerroy Municipal Pavilion. The usual schedule of San José Obrero's home matches is changed, hoping to have as many spectators as possible in the stands on Sunday midday.
