The San Francisco Javier neighborhood will have new sports equipment. The Arrecife City Council has put out to tender this new public endowment, on a municipal plot of 2,422. 92 square meters of surface with an investment close to "one million euros."
Yonathan de León Machín has reported that these new public facilities will be built on a plot, near a green area and close to the Vía Medular, which is located between El Sorondongo and El Forito streets. This area of the city is experiencing significant residential expansion, which is joined by the recent opening of a large commercial area for food.
The Public Sector Contracting Platform has published the tender announcement for the "sports and recreational park on Calle Sorondongo" since October 20. The estimated value of the contract is "955,769. 29 euros."
The mayor has highlighted that during this term his priority is that Arrecife is focused on the city's neighborhoods to provide them with "better public facilities, new sports equipment, green spaces and renovation of the urban image." The mayor has remarked that they are working on better sports facilities in the neighborhoods of Altavista, Argana Alta, Las Salinas, Titerroy and Las Salinas, where other important actions in terms of facilities for sports and healthy living will begin this fall.
According to the report and the architectural project drafted for this new sports and recreational park, "there will be a multipurpose court closed on its sides, where sports such as soccer or basketball will be developed. There will be a calisthenics area, where you can perform activities related to crossfit and functional activities, for this purpose different pieces are projected, under the supervision of a specialized company. A building piece with toilets, storage and other areas will be built, and different seating areas protected from the sun by pergolas will be created. The rest of the park will be used for walks and gardens."
The Councilor for Commerce, Tourism, Sports and Human Resources, Eli Merino, has pointed out that "given the existing topography and the program of needs, the creation of a large platform where the projected sports uses are located is necessary. In contact with the highest boundaries, a slope is created topped by a retaining wall. The building is located next to these boundaries, on the northwest slope of the plot, so that it is protected from external environmental agents, and around the plot will be made with this project an enclosure in the form of a square so that it allows a controlled use of these new endowments."
Companies interested in participating in this tender of the City Council of Arrecife have until November 20 to register their proposals. The company that is awarded the contract will have a period of 10 months to complete the work, as established in the technical specifications. Thus, predictably, this new sports equipment, within the 'Municipal Investment Plan', will come into service at the end of next year 2024.
