The vice president of the Government of the Canary Islands and Minister of Economy, Industry, Trade and Self-Employed, Manuel Domínguez, has presented this Tuesday an innovative Artificial Intelligence tool aimed at streamlining administrative procedures, reducing processing times and simplifying the relationship between citizens, companies and public administration.
This initiative is part of a broader strategy of administrative simplification, considered a priority for the regional Executive. The objective is to transform the administration into a more agile, efficient, and accessible service, eliminating duplications and unnecessary burdens without renouncing guarantees or public control.
The new tool, called Leo, and accessible on the page web.emprenderencanarias.es, will allow accelerating processes especially relevant for the self-employed and entrepreneurs, facilitating the management of procedures and improving the administration's response capacity.
This tool contemplates the connection between administrations (city councils, island councils, regional government, and State) and the customization of procedures based on economic activity and location, significantly reducing times and uncertainty in administrative processes.
According to the Vice President of the Government, “this technological solution is only the first step of a more ambitious plan aimed at modernizing the internal functioning of public institutions”. In this regard, he stressed that “bureaucracy cannot continue to be a brake on development. The incorporation of artificial intelligence tools will allow us to anticipate citizens' needs, offer faster responses, and guarantee greater transparency throughout the administrative process”.
The plan includes, in addition to this artificial intelligence agent that will guide citizens and companies step by step; the creation of a mailbox, which will allow the identification of administrative obstacles and the proposal of improvements; the implementation of an intelligent digital folder, which will centralize documentation and automate processes; the promotion of a single point of contact for all administrations; the launch of a public-private table to detect real problems and apply solutions; and the regulatory review to eliminate duplications and obsolete regulations.
