This Thursday morning, the ninth edition of the RORC Transatlantic Race was presented in Marina Lanzarote, the Atlantic crossing regatta in competition mode that unites the islands of Lanzarote and Grenada organized by the prestigious Royal Ocean Racing Club, the Yacht Club de France and the International Maxi Association and that "has relied, from the first moment, on Calero Marinas for the preparation of the departure from Lanzarote", they point out from the organization.

Everything indicates that the departure this coming January 8 will be "a great spectacle where, in the case of multihulls, small details will mark the difference in results between the three teams" as pointed out by the majorero sailor Oliver Herrera.

The presentation consisted of two parts, one with the organization and the main sponsors of the event and another with three prominent sailors who will start this coming January 8 from Arrecife, in Lanzarote.

Jeremy Wilton, CEO of RORC, opened the order of intervention, highlighting the work of Calero Marinas as the venue for the longest regatta organized by the Royal Ocean Racing Club, during these nine years and thanking the local authorities for their support in bringing this event to Lanzarote. "It should be mentioned that the RORC Transatlantic Race is a regatta that has an impact of approximately 1.5 million euros and that, in the last edition, the media impact was valued at 6.8 million pounds," said José Juan Calero, CEO of Calero Marinas, who also thanked both RORC for the trust placed in them and the public institutions, Promotur, Turismo Lanzarote and Turismo Arrecife for their involvement in this project.

The Councilor of the Tourism area of the City Council of Arrecife, Armando Santana, commented "the feeling of pride, not only as responsible for the tourism area but also as arrecifeño, that this type of events are held in our city." The order of intervention of authorities was closed by Héctor Fernández CEO of the Society for the Promotion of Lanzarote who pointed to the alignment of these events with the strategy of promoting the island through the product Lanzarote European Sport Destination but also for being an event that encompasses other important factors such as sustainability and the high profile of the participant.

In the turn of the sailors, there was the participation of Ken Read, from the maxi Jasi, the local Oliver Herrera, crew of the MOD70 Maserati and Arto Linnervuo of the Finnish boat Infiniti 52R. The three agreed that Lanzarote meets unbeatable conditions for sailing and the organization of these events to prepare for the crossing, while half of Europe is going through a hard winter.

The 3000mn of the RORC Transatlantic Race will allow them, not only to test their crews, but as is the case of the Infiniti 52R, to test innovations that they carry in their foils.

"Marina Lanzarote has scheduled a series of activities to accompany the departure of this spectacular fleet from 11 am on Sunday 8 and the departure will also be broadcast by streaming through the Facebook of Calero Marinas", they point out from the organization.

The RORC Transatlantic Race is an event organized by the Royal Ocean Racing Club, the Yacht Club de France, the International Maxi Association and Calero Marinas and is sponsored by the Government of the Canary Islands, the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), Promotur, the Cabildo de Lanzarote, SPEL-Turismo Lanzarote, through the European Sports Destination (ESD) brand, the Department of Tourism of the City Council of Arrecife and the invaluable collaboration of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife.
